Big dogs can grow old

I have embarked on a 10-15 year study and research to see how feeding raw natural food relate to the age of a large dogs.  I started this in 2001 and now 9 years later I'm absolutely convinced that big dogs can grow old. Great Danes are known for their short lifespan. Many does not make it to past 6-8, few to 10 and very few over 10 years. I hear this all the time: "I love Great Danes but they live so short"

The main reason for this is in my opinion  lack of quality food. Big bodies need more nutrients than smaller bodies. The little nutrients found in commercial dog food may be enough to sustain a smaller dog for a longer period of time. But still even small dogs get into medical issues like bad teeth, cancer, joint issues, heart problems kidney failure etc.

By feeding food rich in nutrients a big dog should also live a long healthy life. They key is to feed the type of food they were design for, or better what their digestive system was design for. The digestive system's job is to digest the food food and extract all the nutrients that a dog need to stay healthy If the wrong food goes down in a dog's digestive system, the dog will be deprived of the nutriments they need, thereby shorten their lifespan dramatically.
